Loss vs Yuncun (P)

Replay: Loss vs Yuncun (P) – Scrap Station

Lost to a 4-gate.  Lesson learned: don’t rush to mutas without:

  1. A second base.
  2. Units that can defend against a 4-gate in a pinch.

I think I ended up training drones as Yuncun was attacking…  Not the brightest move.  I do need to make sure I have an overlord closer to the entrance of my opponent’s base, instead of  off to the side.  That way, I can see my opponent’s units as early as possible, and respond quickly.

Actually, now that I think about it, I should probably just have a zergling or two out there, instead of overlords.  I already get supply blocked enough without sacrificing overlords…

Loss vs Ownagizer (P)

I believe my issue here was, unsurprisingly, a lack of anything interesting on my part.  I held off an initial gateway push, but Ownagizer responded well to my mutas with a metric ton of stalkers and a colossus to deal with lings.  I have a problem being able to pump out units when I need them!

Checklist fails:

  • Plan/Upgrade/Build — my expansion timing was terrible.  Plus, I need to remember to replace drones used to build structures.
  • Scout
  • Pump

Win vs Inconsolable (P)

Constant void ray harassment.  I should have been able to deal with it better.

Lessons learned:

  • Deal with air harassment quickly and firmly.  Don’t use a slow ground army off creep to do it.  😛

Win vs Brendon (P)

Early pressure on Brendon caught a four gate and no cyber core.  Eventually made a surprise transition into muta/ling to win.

Lessons learned:

  • Early zerglings in the opponent’s base are good for pressure and for scouting.
  • Stay on top of drone production…?

Loss vs legitgamer (Z)

I shouldn’t play when I’m tired.  😛  I knew the plan would be to go fast muta, so I planned on going hydras.  Met with speedlings, and no defense to speak of.  Hooray!

Lessons learned:

  • Don’t play when tired.
  • Always get a roach warren up early, for defense against speedlings, if the plan is to go fast lair for hydras.
  • Also, if the plan is fast-lair-for-hydras, don’t try and expand when you don’t know what’s out there.

Win vs Zac (P)

Fended off relatively early void rays by getting extra queens, spore crawlers, and mutas.  Countered by going absolutely mass muta.

Lessons learned:

  • Keep resources low!
  • Scout! I really had no idea that he would be going air.  I just sort of assumed he would because the ground distance is so short.

For the record, I love Scrap Station.  🙂

  • Spawn larva (but if you forget, spawn a bunch of creep tumors to bleed off energy).
